Photograph dated January 4, 1929 used for an article dated July 31, 1929; the caption reads, "Ruby Keeler, Al Jolson's beautiful wife, who was forced to give up her starring role in a New York musical comedy when suddenly stricken by a serious illness, depends on surgeons' skill to save her life by an emergency operation." Jolson and Keeler are seen here on the City of Honolulu liner after a trip to Hawaii.
