Photograph article dated November 14, 1950 partially reads, "What was formerly a single story, three apartment house, will soon become a two story apartment with duplicate living quarters on the second floor at 14530 Dickens St., Sherman Oaks. The entire unit was raised by cross timbers and jacks under the supervision of W. F. Larimore, general contractor. W. C. Pennell of Los Angeles is the architect for the unusual project. Once the apartment was cut loose from its original foundation, 16 hours were required by six men to raise the apartment to the proper level to enable the contractor to start work on the new section. The unit is owned by Mrs. Edna Leach, 14526 Dickens St." Photograph caption reads, "Apartment raised - A three suite apartment house at 14530 Dickens St., Sherman Oaks was raised to make room for construction of a duplicate set of apartments beneath it. The method is new in this area."
