"Most of Marin's commerical poultry was part of the Accredited Hatcheries Project sponsored by the Sonoma County Farm Bureau and the Agricultural Extension Service for improving the quality of chicks." Boissevain: Marin's First Farm Advisor; Historical Photographs of Marin's Agrarian Roots: 1920-1950 "James Gage, who conducts the white leghorn breeding farms at Novato in conjunction with the Indian Valley Hatchery at Novato, has a pen of birds in the Sonoma County Farm Bureau International Egg Laying Contest. Gage's pen of ten chickens laid 403 eggs for the two-month period." M. B.Boissevain
