Description
Originally named Boulder Dam, it was renamed Hoover Dam in 1946. A group of government engineers and officials of Southwest News are seen in this picture standing on the Nevada side of the Colorado, looking towards Boulder Canyon. The building of Hoover Dam will create a gigantic reservoir containing 26,000,000 acre feet of water (enough to submerge Manhattan Island to a depth of 2000 feet).
