The 14-story El Mirador Hotel at 13th and N Street boasted an unparalleled view of Sacramento from its Sky Room when it opened in 1957, though the Top of the Town above the Elks Temple offered refreshment at the same altitude. For a decade the El Mirador vied with older and more established venues near the State Capitol Building. The lady and her escort featured in this postcard leave their late-model convertible to the valet parking attendant before making their way to one of the hotel dining rooms or lounges.
