Not long after Barry filed the first paternity suit against Chaplin, federal prosecutors brought Mann Act charges against Charlie Chaplin in relation to Barry; he was acquitted.
Photograph caption dated March 23, 1944 reads, "Comedian's former protege starts testimony in Mann Act case."
