Photograph caption dated May 22, 1963 reads "Maxwell Shieff, seated left, was one of the top 10 designers whose elaborate evening gowns were featured at the National Charity League, Los Angeles Chapter, Les Couturiers American Ball. With Shieff in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton are Mrs. Thomas Malouf, and standing from left Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Johnson and Malouf, all of Sherman Oaks. The Johnsons and Maloufs were guests of Mrs. Malouf's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Nassour at the event."
