Description
Photograph of Glenn Martin posing with his first airplane frame, ca.1916. At center, Glenn Martin is seen standing in front of a bare frame for an airplane. Martin is seen wearing all darkly-colored clothing and overalls. Three parallel planes of bars are visible at the front, middle, and back of the plane. A thin axle is also seen below the frame connecting the three tires. The two rear tires are seen supporting the square frame in the back, while the front tire extends from a triangular piece of the frame. A description on the back of the photoprint reads: "powered with 15 horsepower Model T engine, later replaced by one with 30 horsepower. It made many successful flights".
