Photograph article dated June 4, 1958 partially reads, "A Van Nuys teenager was at Valley Receiving Hospital today after he was shot by a city school official police reported. Larry Le Forest, 14, of 6705 Matilija Ave., was wounded last night by Lawson E. Miller, 48, of 5855 Woodman Ave., Apt. 4. The youth was reported in good condition following emergency surgery. Detective R. S. Ingham said one of four shots Miller fired with a 38-caliber revolver struck the boy in the back as the victim dashed from a dark alley toward a waiting car on Woodman avenue. Miller said the shooting was occasioned by garage prowlers. The bullet passed through the youth's body, coming out just beneath the chest."
