Description
A long stretch of J Street, between Third and Fourth Streets, is the focus of this circa 1959 photograph. Prominent is the antique façade of the Van Voorhies-Phinney building at 322 and 324 J Street. The Grey Pharmacy, at 1000 Fourth Street, and resting inside the California Fruit Building, sits in the lower, left-hand corner of the frame. The Capital City Cigar and Liquor Company, at 320 J Street, stands to the right of the Van Voorhies-Phinney building. In the foreground is a Mobile service station sign.
