Description
V1p362a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 362 top. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written to side of photo: "1906 Fire Suffers [sic] preparing the morning meal Oak Street near Divisadero. Note the cable railroad tracks." Photo shows a family cooking on improvised outdoor stoves. These people were not burned out; everyone whose house was still standing after the disaster was required to cook outdoors until their chimneys were inspected. If this is indeed Oak Street then the car line along it had been electrified without the cable slot being removed.
