Photograph of the opening of the Loring Opera House in Riverside on January 8, 1889. Shown is the closing act of "Lolanthe", an amateur production. A group of actors stand in costume, apparently dressed as royalty. At center an actress wearing a crown holds a spear to the neck of a second actress who falls into the arms of an actor in a powdered wig. A set depicting a city street stands behind them.
