Title supplied by cataloger. Buffums' was a high-end department store originating in Long Beach. This building, originally occupied by the Mercantile Company in 1904, became Buffums' in 1912. The three-story building at Pine and Broadway was enlarged to six stories in 1926. Two large Buffums' signs on top of the department store advertise the store's presence on Pine Avenue and Broadway in Long Beach. The awnings on Pine Avenue shade the display windows. The store entrance is on the right of the six-story building but the store also occupies the smaller, three-story building.
