Description
Real estate investor Jacob Stern commissioned this house from Coate in 1928. The over 9000 square foot estate was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style, on a 2.2 acre parcel of land. The 30 room mansion was sited on the crown of a hill, overlooking some of Holmby Hills' prime real estate. The house was later owned by Alfred and Betty Bloomingdale; it was recently sold and is undergoing extensive renovation of house and grounds.
The estate landscape design was by A.E. Hanson.
