Description
These are excerpts from a photo album and scrapbook prepared by Laura Griffin and Rose E. Lammey and given as a gift to Helen Pepperdine. The Helen Louise Girls Home--named for Helen Pepperdine--was a George Pepperdine Foundation initiative launched by George and Helen in 1937. Located near downtown Los Angeles, the facility provided a home for young women ages 15 to 19 who came from broken homes. The home was closed during the war and never reopened. This albums includes photos of the young women who attended between 1937 and 1941, including handwritten information about each woman, and her dedication to Helen Pepperdine. The album also includes clippings and other ephemera. Griffin and Lammey were House Mothers at the Home.
