On April 2nd, 1902 he married Ane Marie Pedersen in Kopenhagen. From 1906-1914 he worked as a missionary in Unyamwezi, from 1906-08 he was stationed in Urambo. In 1908 he was subsitute head of synod. In 1910 he was head in Sikonge and he became head of synod of the Unyamwezi mission in the same year. From 1912 he was in Tabora. In 1914 he was on vacation in Europe.
