Description
Photograph of fishing boats and beach shops at Newport beach, shown from a pier, ca.1908. A low, narrow boardwalk is pictured in the foreground, extending out towards the ocean. At center, directly behind it, a small row boat can be seen anchored in the sand, close to the high water mark. Farther back, a small sailing boat is also anchored, and three young women and a little girl can be seen lingering on it. A pavillion decked-out with American flags can be seen to the right, one of a number of beachside structures that line the shore. A group of beached boats can be seen in slips on the sand to the right of the pavillion.
