Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph article dated September 1, 1960 partially reads, "Santa Claus Workshops in the Southland are in high gear as only 120 or so shopping days remain until Christmas! And, the wise St. Nick's 'helper' is selecting gifts now while stocks are fresh and complete. But, early shopping can be hazardous... what parents buy now may be considered passe by the time the holidays roll around; children's desires change as fast as their shoe size, especially when certain toys start getting a big play on television. To help answer the question, 'What will be 'in by Dec. 25?' we dropped by Mattel Toymakers for a preview of their line. Manufacturers of playthings for 15 years and the largest user of television advertising in the toy field, the reply to our query was simple: 'Dolls for girls and guns for boys with musical jack-in-the-boxes and crank-up guitars having the edge with toddlers of either sex.'" Assembly-line methods are used to package Fast-Draw Target Sets designed to delight young cowboys.; See images #00127748 through #00127750 for all photos in this series.
