Description
Ramona Lorenzana was born into a distinguished Santa Barbara family in 1828. In 1852 she married James Tryce who in the early 1870s met an untimely end in a fishing accident off of Anacapa Island. The artist Leonardo Barbieri was a portraitist working by commission and he set up shop in Santa Barbara in the early 1850s. Among the local notables he painted many members of the de la Guerra and Carrillo families as well as José María de Jesús González Rubio of Mission Santa Barbara.
