Description
An 1856 receipt for a printing job ordered by the Masonic Lodge No. 58 from the State Journal. The State Journal was also known as the Weekly State Journal and the Democratic State Journal as well as the Daily Democratic State Journal. The newspaper ran briefly from 1855 to 1858 and was published by Henry Shipley and Co. For 1858, the newspaper was published as the Weekly California Statesman.
