George Crile discusses his book, “Charlie Wilson’s War.” He begins by explaining the conflict the United States had in the 1980s with Afghanistan and Russian communists. He talks abut how the CIA honored Wilson after the Cold War in a secret ceremony. Crile describes how a young Wilson would listen to radio broadcasts from World War II, and was incredibly motivated from hearing the speeches of Winston Churchill. He talks about ‘black finances’ and the United States’ selling weapons to Afghanistan. Crile ends the interview by talking about how Charlie Wilson found a loophole in CIA policy to be able to continue the war.
