Photograph caption dated October 18, 1957 reads, "More than 200 mothers of Fullbright elementary school pupils picketed bridge area on Vanowen Street near Oso avenue in Canoga Park where children are subjected to 'dangerous traffic conditions.' Due to flood control construction children are forced to walk on wrong side of street and are exposed to hazards of heavy traffic, mothers said. They say they will maintain picket lines until they 'gain results.' They are requesting railing inside bridge separating children from flow of traffic, policeman at north end of bridge to assist children in crossing Vanowen street and warning signs at each end of bridge."
