Description
This 1962 photograph captures the lifeless storefront of Raymond Yee’s pharmacy at 1008 Sixth Street. A native of China, Yee followed in the footsteps of his father, Dew, who was also a pharmacist. Raymond had been at the pictured location since 1947. After its closure, Yee relocated to 2026 Sixteenth Street. To the left of the frame is Gus Theologus’s Sacramento Hat Works at 1010 Sixth Street; to the right is the south end of the Liberty Hotel at 1000 through 1006 Sixth Street.
