Photograph was edited for publication purposes Gladys Parker was an American cartoonist best known for her comic strip, Mopsy, which ran from 1939-1965. Parker, who was one of the few female cartoonists working during the 1930's through the 1950's, was also known for her work as fashion designer. Her designs appeared in motion pictures and were sold in stores under her clothing line, Gladys Parker Designs. She died in 1966, at the young age of 56, from lung cancer. Photograph caption dated November 29, 1956 reads, "Comic strip artist Gladys Parker of Hollywood leaves Municipal Judge Morton L. Barker's Van Nuys courtroom behind dark glasses after being fined $25 on plain drunk charge today."
