When a quarter of a million fishermen set out to welcome the trout season, there's gonna be a jam, no matter how much they spread out. Mute evidence is seen in this picture taken on April 30, 1955, in San Gabriel Canyon, where thousands of Southland Nimrods scurried to try their skill and luck. Sheriff's Sgt. D. B. Sells of the San Dimas station said a mouthful when he uttered: "It looks like there will be more fishermen than fish." The season lasts through October.
