Description
The Department of the Government of California lacked sufficient funds for an expedition to the North. It therefore borrowed funds paid on account by Juan Domingo toward his purchase of a parcel of land. Pio Pico personally indemnified the loan from the Los Angeles to the California Government. Title to Domingo's land was placed as collateral in the event of default. Original Spanish document: pages 47-50. English translation: pages 36-37.
