Photograph article dated August 30, 1946 partially reads, "Thirteen final starters, including three Valleyites and three women, were preparing today to make the takeoff Aug. 30 from Van Nuys Metropolitan airport in the $10,000 Bendix Trophy race to Cleveland. Valleyites on the completed list are Paul Mantz, Burbank and Glendale air service operator; his flying mate, Thomas Mayson, and William P.
