Photograph of a letter from Philip Colt & Verl Kreiser [?], Bureau International Deorganization, Paris, to National Student League, New York, 20 October 1933. "Dear comrades, we hope you will have had a report of the International Students Conference against war and fascism by the representative of the N.S.L., but three girl students (formerly members of the N.S.L.) who are actually studying in Paris, and some American delegates to the World Youth Congress attended our conference. We feel sure that either the girls or one of those who returned to America will have reported to you. Anyhow, you will receive the press reports of the Conference in a few days, together with the new bulletin. -- Now to answer your letter of September twelfth: 1. It seems to us that a part of our correspondence with you must have gone lost, as well as some of the letters and of the material which you mention to have dispatched to us. That's why we are sending this letter in double to U.S.A., one to the official N.S.L. address and the other to a private one." [...] "to get in touch with the different student organizations [...] We had a students conference at the same time when the Antifascist Congress (Pleyel) was held here in Paris. At this time we still hoped to be far enough by the month of September to come to the foundation of the International of Revolutionary Students (I.R.S.) but we were aware of the fact that such an International would be a rather narrow one and in order to enlarge the mass of students conceivable for the revolutionary movement we decided that for the time being we would have only an International Students Committee against imperialist war and fascism. This committee was set up at the last conference and at the same time a bureau, with the special task to prepare and international students congress for the next year which shall decide on the foundation of the I.R.S. This congress will have the largest basis and will have to discuss the whole problem which stand [sic] before the students, not only the problems of war and fascism, but as well the defendence of students rights, their standard of living, the ideological fight, etc. -- The Internationa Students [...] -- 8. We want to repeat: Your next task will be to build up a strong student movement against war and fascism. You'll have to give the initiative for the creation of committees in the different universities. See to it, that they are formed on a united front basis. You must interest Socialists and Pacifists, etc., and lead them to action, for you are the most advanced part of the American students. -- We hope to keep close connection to you and send you our revolutiionary greetings."
