Description
Photograph of a view of Seventh Street looking west from Hill Street, Los Angeles, ca.1927. Two cable-cars make their way across Hill Street in the frame, while a third cable-car, automobiles and pedestrians make their way down the pavement and sidewalks of Seventh. The nine-story Pantages Theatre building stands in the right foreground, a decorative dome situated at its top corner. Its marquee reads "The Ritz Brothers / The 'Marriage License'". Other highrise buildings line Seventh to either side. Other legible signs include: "Los Angeles", "Luggage", "The Brack Shops", "Union Oil Building", "Roosevelt Building", "Brockman Building", "Real Estate", and "John Wright / The [...]ght Tailor / Entrance [...]706 [...] Hill Street". The traffic signal is currently in the "Stop" position on the left sidewalk on Seventh, and several pedestrians are crossing from one sidewalk to the other.
