[Profiler bio] In 1954, Minha Tran escaped from North Vietnam to Saigon in order to avoid the prosecution of the Communists. Twenty years later, in 1975, Tran and her family began another journey to avoid the brutalities of communism. Assisted by her employer from the First National City Bank (Citibank) in the United States, the family stayed through Guam and Camp Pendleton before settling and living in Los Angeles. In the video, Tran describes their immigration process and life in the United States as well as her negative views for the Communists and support of South Vietnam and the Americans. She views the war as a choiceless choice for the South Vietnamese, who had to fight in order to protect their homeland from invasions of the North Communists. After continuing her banking career for 30 years with Citibank, Tran is now retired, with a grown-up daughter and a happy family. [Profile bio]
