Description
Photograph of the assembled staff of "old-timers" employed at the Los Angeles Times, 1934. Thirty-seven men are pictured standing or sitting on a lawn dressed in suits. A building is visible to the right behind them. At center, the man with his hands in his pockets has been identifed as Harry Chandler, the owner and publisher of the paper at the time. Forrest is visible behind them. The men in the photo share a total service record of 1213 years, or an average of approximately 33 years per man, including the two "youngsters" present. Two employees, Joseph Ford and Charles Edwards, with service of 44 years each, were unable to be present for the photo. The photoprint for the image identifies the year as 1924.
