Souvenir program for the first Intermountain District Council J.A.C.L. Convention and Eighth Annual Intermountain Nisei Conference sponsored by Japanese American Citizens League of Salt Lake.
Items collected by Walter T. Tsukamoto, a civilian lawyer and judge advocate (JA) captain (CPT) in the Army Reserve. Tsukamoto was President of the National Japanese American Citizen's League (JACL) from 1938-1942. He was incarcerated in Tule Lake Incarceration Camp until March 10, 1943, when he was accepted into the U.S. Army and became the first Asian-American to serve on active duty in the Judge Advocate General's Department (JAGD).
