Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 1, 1962 states: "The coast guard will commission and place in full operation its newest, and most unique station at Lake Tahoe tomorrow. A seven man crew commanded by Chief Boatswain's Mate William Blanford is on duty during the peak of the boating season and is responsible for enforcement of federal regulations. The station was built at a cost of $160,000 on land donated by the state."
