Description
A. J. "Dutch" Velthoen speaking with Mr. Hester, manager, and staff of Borden Manufacturing Co. The company originally settled in Corona for the frozen lemon peel to be used in Nonesuch Mincemeat which they manufactured in New York. During World War II, soldiers eating K Rations, recieved powdered lemon juice made at Bordens. After WWII, the company was able to operate year-round because of better refrigeration. Narrator, A.J. Dutch Velthoen speaking with Mr. Hester, current manager and staff. Company originally settled here for the frozen lemon peel to be used in Nonesuch Mincemeat which they manufactured in New York. During World War II, the company was able to operate year-round because of better refridgeration. Affiliated with Wyler who used lemon powder. Also sold to bakeries for pies, cakes, etc. They had large expansion about 1970. Now make natural and artificial flavors in both liquid and powdered form. (This tape also contains titles and emblems used in making these tapes.)
