Jungleland was a zoo and amusement park, well known for providing wild animals for Hollywood movies and television. It was originally founded as Goebel's Lion Farm in Thousand Oaks in 1926, the name changed to World Jungle Compound in 1929 and to Jungleland in 1955. It closed in 1969.
Photograph caption dated June 9, 1958 reads "More than 2,500 people lined Thousand Oaks' streets Saturday to see paraders in community's second annual Honorary Mayor Day event, including Reseda Chamber of Commerce Youth Band. Activities also included show, barbecue and dance. Ward Bond, television star, replaced Mabel Stark, animal trainer, as honorary mayor." The grandstand and stage are set up in front of the amusement park Jungleland.
