Description
1989-1192. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 4. A corner view of the building at 114 Jay street; the bottom street level floor has two doors and three other arched sections with windows on the top half; a roof extends over this floor; above the first floor are two additional floors with five vertical windows on each; above the 2nd floor the window has a lintel held up by corbels and on the 3rd floor above each window is a roofline element held up by corbels; on roof are chimneys above each window and on top of the building below the roof are vertical hinge elements in between each window; on left see the side of the building from a side street; utility lines flank the sides of the alley or side street. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "It was the 'Brannan Hotel' in the '60's' and in the '80's it was called and known as the Tremount Hotel, it is now known as The Espanol Hotel' famous for its Italian and Spanish dinners..."
