Description
Pictured in this 1945 postcard are Sacramento's 105-year-old Sarah Van Dyke and radio personality Tom Breneman. The photograph was captured during Breneman's radio program "Breakfast In Hollywood," an unscripted variety program that thrived on audience participation. Van Dyke had been living in Sacramento for 40 years when she passed away in November 1945 at the age of 106, having the satisfaction of realizing one her greatest ambitions: Seeing the Allies defeat Fascist Germany and Japan.
