Title supplied by cataloger. Founded in 1957 from Congregationalist churches of New England, the United Church of Christ was formed by the union of two denominations: the Congregational Christian Church and Evangelican and Reformed Church. It is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination principally in the United States. According to the 2007 yearbook, the United Church of Christ has approximately 1.2 million members and is composed of approximately 5,518 local congregations. View shows three stained glass windows along one of the walls at Los Angeles Samoan Community Christian Church UCC, located on the corner of 1200 S. Kenmore Ave. and W. 12th Street. Sunlight is almost impenetrable through these ornate windows, as the pews seen in this photo appear to be in shadow. Stained glass windows have been described as 'illuminated wall decorations' and were commonly used in churches for decorative and informative purposes; sometimes members of a congregation would donate such windows in memory of their loved ones. Verso on photo lists the Pastor as Rev. Samuelu G. Taesali, and states that this was formerly the Schaefle Memorial Congregational Church in the 1920s. Photograph dated: February 5, 2006.
