Description
Photographic portrait of a desert prospector and his burro, ca.1920. A small, rumpled man is shown just to the left of center, a kerchief tied around his neck and a floppy hat pulled down over his brow. A small, grisled beard can be seen on his face, and his skin appears sun-tanned. To the right, his mule is visible in profile, turned towards the left with pans, a rock-hammer and other prospecting equipment lashed to its back. Desert brush and a large hill are visible in the distance. There are tire tracks in the sand beneath the feet of the mule and prospector.
