Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated September 25, 1961 partially reads, "Over the Pacific - Capt. Bob Reardon swings his deep-beellied [sic] C-97 Strato-freighter over the lonely triangle of Marcus Island. The atoll breaks the monotony of the long trans-Pacific run between Travis Air Base in California and Tachikawa AFB, Japan. The load this time is IBM cards. But it might be supplies for a brushfire war in Southeast Asia, winter clothing for Korean orphans or wounded soldiers heading back to the States for medical care. This is the last run of the 195th Air Transport Squadron, based at the Van Nuys Airport, before it and other units of the 146th Air Transport Wing, California Air National Guard, go on active duty Oct. 1 for a year." Pictured is Capt. Bob Reardon (second from right), along with several unidentified airmen.; See images #00126625 through #00126628 for all photos in this series.
