Photograph caption dated January 2, 1947 reads, "Gloria Zarifian, who narrowly escaped death or serious injury in the blast, stands beside her car. She and her brother, Walter, were rounding the corner in their car when the blast occurred. A huge shower of debris fell on the top of the car but both Miss Zarifian and her brother were uninjured."
