Photograph caption dated May 10, 1961 reads, "The business of picking up animals has had a strange new flavor recently at the Valley Animal Shelter, 13131 Sherman Way, North Hollywood. Although the bulk of the shelter's pound work still is with dogs and cats, recent acquisitions include a fawn, shown at left getting a bottle from shelter worker Eddie Holguin, and a fox, being inspected above by Leroy Hattenfels (rear), 7545 Denny Ave., Sun Valley, and senior kennelman Ernie Brown. Also picked up recently by the shelter were a peacock and a squirrel."; See image #00131642 for additional photo in this series.
