Description
A large crowd of people of attend a campaign rally in support of presidential candidate Ángel Aníbal Guevara. Five wheelchair users in the front wear hats with "RR." Many people in the crowd hold and wave small yellow flags. A banner on the left of the image reads, "The Mayan colony supports Guevara and Ponce." On March 8, 1982 Guevara won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt.
