On the starboard side, four women in hats and dresses and a man with sunglasses sit on either side of a man in a sailor's cap. Another woman lies on the deck beside them. Behind them, another man in a sailor's cap leans against the sail, which is furled. Another person sits in the stern, and two boys sit on the prow. An American flag hands aft of the sail, and the words "Scaramouche Balboa" are emblazoned on the stern. In the distance, houses line the shore.
