Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 19, 1968 states: "Four serious accidents, including one fatality, have occurred in the last four months at this construction site on U. S. 50 near Shingle Springs, El Dorado County. Speed has been reduced on the detour to 40 miles an hour while work progresses on the western end of a 7.5 mile section of freeway between Shingle Springs and Placerville. Completion is due in December."
