Photograph caption dated June 26, 1964 reads, "Fifteen-year-old Im Joon Myung, Korean orphan 'adopted' by the Van Nuys Kiwanis Club, pores over dictionary with Panorama City's honorary mayor Philip Ahn. Joon speaks English well, but preferred to use Ahn as interpretor in news conference at Los Angeles Press Club." Im Joon Myung thanked actor Philip Ahn, the Van Nuys Kiwanis Club and all American people for taking care of him after he was orphaned in North Korea.
