Photograph was edited for publication purposes First constructed by padres of the nearby San Fernando Mission, the Romulo Pico Adobe passed through the hands of Gen. Andre´s Pico, brother of early California governor Pio Pico, and his son, Romulo Pico. In 1930, archaeologist, Mark Raymond Harrington purchased and reconstructed the adobe, which by that time, had gone through several changes in ownership and fallen into disrepair. Later, in 1957, the North Valley YMCA bought the adobe which served as their headquarters until 1965. The Romulo Pico Adobe is included in the National Register of Historic Places and is California Historical Landmark #362 and Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #7. Pictured is archaeologist and curator, M. R. Harrington as he views a portrait of Andre´s Pico on display inside the Romulo Pico Adobe, which serves as the headquarters for the North Valley YMCA. Photograph dated May 15, 1962.
