Description
Men and women wait for the train to arrive at a station in Cuidad Juarez. They look towards the direction that the train is arriving to the station. Some people wait on the platform and others wait standing on the rails. Black freight containers are stationed in the adjacent tracks. The 80's was considered the "lost decade" because of Mexico's debt crisis. This was due to the falling oil prices that left Mexico without foreign currencies to pay off its $80 billion debt. This crisis increased high levels of unemployement, especially in rural areas.
