Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
Photographer's caption reads, "When you're a photographer working in a city, you have to do night shots in the rain. It's in the rules. Brassai¨ shot them in Paris, Berenice Abbott in New York. Manuel Alvarez Bravo photographed in the rain in Mexico City and Daido Moriyama in Tokyo. So when the first rains of the season came to Hollywood, I headed out on the street. As Moriyama wrote: "If I were to give it words, I would say: 'I have no choice....I have to shoot this....I can't leave this place for another's eyes....I have to shoot it....I have no choice.' An endless, murmuring refrain."
