Description
Photograph of women workers is a ship factory, ca.1942. Four rows of identical metallic desk lamps sits on a table tot eh right of center while a woman behind the table seems to insert a wire into the base of a lamp. To the left, rows of metallic disks and cup-shaped objects that appear to be lighting fixture components sit on a longer table. A woman to the left holds a disk in her hand while a woman to her left holds some sort of tool in her hand. All of the women wear darkly colored sweaters with pinstriped aprons. A sign on the brick wall states a message of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the words "SPEED-MORE SPEED". The poster also reads, "SHIPS FOR VICTORY" on top while an eagle emblem in the center of the sign is labeled "U.S. MARITIME COMMISSION".
